Skills Assessment in Australia
A skill assessing authority is a company that determines whether your abilities meet the requirements necessary to work in a particular occupation. For some visa subclasses, obtaining a sufficient skills assessment is required; for others, it may be requested. Read all of the information that is available on the visa that you are considering applying for. By doing so, you’ll be able to decide if and when you need to submit a skills assessment.
General Skilled Migration (GSM)
You must show proof that you have a sufficient skills evaluation for your proposed occupation when you submit your visa application. When you are requested to apply, you must already have a skills evaluation.
Sponsored By Employer's
If you apply under the Temporary Residence Transition stream , a skills assessment is not required. If a skills assessment is provided after the expiry date, the skills assessment will no longer be valid.
Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS)
A skills assessment must be started or completed within three years of applying for a Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) in order to be eligible for an exemption.
Graduate visa (subclass 485)
You must have specified a job on the Medium to Long Term Strategic Skills List in order to be eligible for a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) .
Do I need to be assessed?
In practically all occupations, Australia is committed to maintaining a particular level of skills that are similar to Australian standards, even though it is willing to accept competent experts from elsewhere. Although you may have put in a lot of effort to receive your degree and logged many hours in the past to gain experience, it can be challenging to determine whether your abilities are on par with the minimal requirements in Australia because they were primarily acquired elsewhere. You and your skills will receive the recognition they require in Australia if you obtain a skill evaluation from an authorized evaluating agency. It kind of offers Australian employers the much-needed comfort that they’re making the proper investments in the right people by serving as a testament to your qualifications and prior experiences.
